Fields and Miller named to CoSIDA Academic All-District team

(Ann Arbor, MI) The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2021-22 Women's At-Large sports All-District teams and Madalyn Fields and Jennifer Miller were selected as members of the 1st District Team. Madalyn and Jennifer were voted in by Sports Information Directors from District 1 that includes 20 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The at-large division features 16 sports competing throughout the winter and spring seasons.

 

Madalyn Fields has been named to the All-District team after serving as the team's primary draw control taker. She collected 53 draws on the season on top of 34 ground balls for the Cardinals. Fields also caused 18 turnovers and accumulated 11 points on the year. Fields is a 3.99 Biomedical Sciences major with a Chemistry minor who is also a member of the League of Legends team for Concordia Esports. She is a two-time WHAC Champions of Character of Team member as well as two-time All-Academic team member, on top of her Second Team All-American honors last season. Fields will leave the program with her name throughout the program record books as she is third all time in caused turnovers and draw controls.

 

Jennifer Miller makes her second consecutive appearance on the All-District team as a standout midfielder for the Cardinals. A two-time All-WHAC First Teamer, Miller led the Cardinals in draw controls (56), ground balls (48), and caused turnovers (26). She also leads the program record books in those same career statistics with 174 draw controls, 161 ground balls, and 79 caused turnovers. As a Justice and Public Policy Major, Miller maintained a 3.73 GPA throughout her career. Her career was a decorated one for Concordia, winning Second-Team All-American honors last season, WHAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, 7 WHAC Defensive Player of the Week awards, and was a two-time WHAC All-Academic Team member.

 

Fields and Miller join Miller from last season and Grace Stadler from 2018 as members of the CoSIDA Academic All-District team in program history.

 

The 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large teams have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. By being selected to the all-district team, Fields and Miller will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot where final teams will be selected later next month.
