Women's Lacrosse falls in close match with Aquinas

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's lacrosse hosted Aquinas for an early Saturday morning WHAC conference game. The Cardinals stayed close with the Saints throughout the game, but Aquinas came away with the 13-10 win.

Taylor Nesbitt led Concordia with 3 goals and 3 assists. Greyson Papp, Madisyn Fox and Nicole Bordo each had 2 goals apiece. Jennifer Miller and Rachel Costello each tied for a team-high 5 ground balls.

 

Peyton Long started in goal for Concordia, making 2 saves in the first half. Madisyn Fox opened scoring after taking a pass from behind the net by Nicole Bordo. Aquinas took the lead with 2 goals but Greyson Papp countered with a quick shot in the goal. CUAA trailed 4-2 after the first quarter.

Aquinas struck first in the second quarter but Isabella Komarowski countered with a free position goal. The Saints continued to convert on offense with a 4-0 run until Taylor Nesbitt scored in the last minute of the quarter. CUAA trailed 9-4 at halftime.

 

Rachel Costello came in to play goalie in the second half, making 4 saves. While Aquinas struck first, Madisyn Fox started a 4-0 CUAA run with a goal. Greyson Papp scored her second of the game and Taylor Nesbitt finished off a hat trick by recording 2 straight goals. CUAA trailed 10-8 after the third quarter.

Aquinas added 2 goals in the fourth quarter, but Nicole Bordo kept the Cardinals alive with a marker. While Bordo scored her second goal with 42 seconds remaining, Concordia fell 13-10 as time expired.

 

Concordia will remain at home to host Life University on Tuesday, March 29 at 3pm.
