Women's Lacrosse overpowers Lourdes 19-3

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's lacrosse hosted Lourdes on a rainy Wednesday afternoon for a WHAC contest.  The Cardinals turned in a strong offensive performance, outshooting Lourdes 33-11 in a 19-3 victory.

Greyson Papp led the team with 4 goals on the day.  Taylor Nesbitt notched a hat trick.  Jennifer Miller, Katelynn Lawson, and Madalyn Fields each had a pair of goals.  Miller added a team-high 6 ground balls.  Taylor Armstrong led the Cardinals with 5 caused turnovers.

 

Rachel Costello played the first half in goal, making 2 saves.  The Cardinals scored just 12 seconds in when Katelynn Lawson scored off an assist from Nicole Bordo.  Bordo added a goal off a feed from Lawson several minutes later.  Greyson Papp scored two goals before Lourdes managed to break the shutout.  Papp countered by completing her hat trick and both Madisyn Fox and Jennifer Miller closed the quarter with goals.

Isabella Komarowski scored a backhand goal to start the second quarter.  Taylor Nesbitt scored on a free position shot and Greyson Papp scored her fourth goal with an assist to Nesbitt.  Taylor Nesbitt got her second goal and then assisted a marker by Anna Werth before halftime.  CUAA led 13-1 heading to the locker room.

 

Peyton Long came in to play goalie in the second half, making 2 saves.  Taylor Armstrong scored on a free position shot to open the third quarter.  Madalyn Fields found the back of the net with Nicole Bordo assisting and Katelynn Lawson notched her second goal.  Taylor Nesbitt finished her hat trick with a free position goal and Jennifer Miller recorded her second marker.  CUAA led 17-1 after the third.

Anna Kordyzon scored on a quick shot in the fourth quarter to notch her first career goal as a Cardinal.  Madalyn Fields got her second goal with an assist to Megan Soop to close out Concordia scoring for the day.  CUAA claimed the 19-3 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will play their next game on Saturday when they host Cleary at 11am.
