Men's Lacrosse takes down Missouri Baptist, 13-2

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Men's Lacrosse took the field Saturday afternoon for a contest against the Missouri Baptist Spartans. Concordia would get on the board early and often as they jumped out to a massive lead in the first half, an advantage they could coast to the end as they secured a 13-2 victory over the Spartans.

For the 3rd time in their last 4 contests, the Cardinals scored in the opening minute of the contest, as Evan Stuart would get on the board just 57 seconds into the game. Ben Tadych would follow that up with a goal at the 12:00 mark to double the advantage, before a pair of Stuart goals on the man advantage put Concordia up 4-0. Cross Papadelis scored with 3:32 to go in the opening quarter as the Cardinals held a 5-0 lead going into the second frame.

The second quarter was more of the same for CUAA, as Ryan Davis and Hunter McCarty each got on the board before a Missouri Baptist goal from Caleb Tant made it 7-1 with 3:07 to go in the half. The Cardinals would respond in a hurry, as goals by Noah Sorenson, Evan Stuart, and Hunter McCarty put the lead at 10-1 for Concordia as the teams headed to halftime.

The third quarter would change the pace of the contest, as each goalie stood firm in net, allowing just 1 goal the entire frame. Andrew Simmons would be the lone goal scorer for the Cardinals, making it an 11-1 lead as the teams headed into the final quarter of play.

Missouri Baptist picked up the first goal of the fourth quarter from Drew Chiodini. Concordia would respond with Evan Stuart's 5th goal of the contest, followed by a Spencer Guppy goal less than 30 seconds later to make it 13-2 in favor of the Cardinals. The score line would remain the same the rest of the contest, as CUAA finished the contest with a 13-2 win.

Sam Bowling (4-1) started in net for the Cardinals, making 7 saves in a full 60 minutes of work. Ashton Scott (1-2) started in net for the Spartans, making 12 saves in the first half before being replaced by Daniel Heinrich, who made 14 saves in his 30 minutes of action.
