Men's Lacrosse advances to WHAC Championship with 13-5 win over Aquinas

(Ann Arbor, MI) – #1 seed Concordia hosted a WHAC playoff game on Thursday afternoon, bringing in the #4-seeded Aquinas Saints.  The Cardinals moved on to the WHAC championship game after grinding out a 13-5 victory. 

 

Sam Bowling played a complete game in net, making 12 saves.  Spencer Guppy opened scoring just over a minute into the contest and Hunter McCarty tacked on an unassisted marker.  Aquinas battled back to tie the game 2-2 after the 1st. 

Spencer Guppy scored his 2nd goal after a quick feed from Evan StuartRyan Davis tallied as well and the game settled into a defensive battle.  CUAA led 4-2 at halftime. 

 

Spencer Guppy finished his hat trick in the first minute of the 3rdCooper Regimbal continued the momentum with two goals in a row.  The Cardinals continued to feed off the energy of their fans with markers from Travis Wright and Andrew Simmons.  CUAA held a 9-3 lead after the 3rd. 

Both teams traded markers with Evan Stuart scoring on a feed from Ross Preston early in the 4thCooper Regimbal completed his hat trick with a shot on the run and Stuart tallied his second goal.  Ross Preston notched a powerplay marker late in the game and CUAA claimed the 13-5 win as time expired. 

 

Concordia will now host Indiana Tech this Saturday for the WHAC championship at 1pm.
