Men's Lacrosse defeats rival Siena Heights, 13-8

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's lacrosse hosted rival Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon in WHAC play.  The Cardinals overcame an early 3-1 deficit and secured the 13-8 victory. 

 

Sam Bowling played a complete game, making 7 saves.  Andrew Simmons opened scoring off a feed from Hunter McCarty.  SHU surged to a 3-1 lead, but markers by Spencer Guppy and Cooper Regimbal tied the match.  A goal by Hunter McCarty with 7 seconds left put CUAA up 4-3 after the 1st. 

Travis Wright scored to open the 2nd quarter.  Ryan Davis added a marker and Wright scored his 2nd goal with Spencer Guppy assisting.  CUAA led 7-4 at halftime. 

 

SHU pulled closer with 2 goals in the 3rdAndrew Simmons and Cooper Regimbal added their second tallies to end the run.  Hunter McCarty tacked on a powerplay goal and CUAA led 10-6 after the 3rd. 

Travis Wright finished off his hat trick to open the 4th quarter with a goal on the run.  Andrew Simmons completed his hat trick and Cross Papadelis found the scoresheet.  The Saints added two goals while attempting to rally, but the Cardinals held on to secure the 13-8 win. 

 

Concordia will remain at home this Wednesday to host Aquinas at 1pm.
