Saje earns second-straight WHAC Player of the Week honors; Third of Season

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their Player of the Week honors Monday afternoon and Cardinals junior Sam Saje picked up WHAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season and for the second straight week. 

 

Saje, a junior from Macomb, Michigan, once again helped the team to a 2-0 week following a 14-4 win over Lourdes and a 14-7 win over Michigan-Dearborn. As the main faceoff taker for the Cardinals, Saje won 73.5% of his faceoffs on the week, while picking up a total of 21 ground balls. Saje added a goal in each game, including a goal seven seconds into the game at Lourdes. 

 

Saje is part of a multitude of Cardinal Men's Lacrosse athletes who have taken home weekly honors. Other athletes include Hunter McCarty, Sam Saje, Ross Preston, Cross Papadelis, Sam Bowling, and Evan Stuart who have taken home WHAC honors this season. 

 

The Cardinals close out the regular season this week with a home game against Thomas More on Wednesday, April 19 at 4 PM, which will also be Senior Day, and then traveling to Taylor on Saturday, April 22.
