Baseball wraps up spring break trip in Georgia

(Emerson, GA) – Concordia baseball faced off against Fort Lauderdale and Trinity Baptist in a rematch on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals fell 12-4 to begin the day but picked up a 7-6 win in their second contest.

 

Game 1 – FL 12, CUAA 4

Michial Schuster started game 1 on the mound, making 2 strikeouts in 2.1 innings. Concordia scored 2 runs in the 1st, starting with Justin Kozlowski reaching home on a wild pitch. Aaron West made it home on an error by the shortstop for a 2-0 lead.

Fort Lauderdale scored 3 runs in the 2nd to pull ahead. Jimmy Wressel tied the game in the 3rd with an RBI single to drive in Joe Jones. However, Fort Lauderdale retook the lead with a 3-run 3rd and added 2 more runs in the 4th.

Aaron Brazelton scored on a wild pitch in the 6th, but the Cardinals eventually fell 12-4.

 

Game 2 – CUAA 7, TBC 6

Both offenses connected early with a 3-run 1st inning. Justin Kozlowski hit a solo home run and Jordan Sherman crushed a 2-run homer to tie the game 3-3.

Concordia turned a double play in the 2nd and 3rd inning. The Cardinals took the lead when Jimmy (James) Wressel hit an RBI double to drive in Justin Kozlowski. Jordan Sherman tacked on a 2-RBI double in the 5th to score Aaron West and Joe Jones.

CUAA turned another double play in the 6th but Trinity Baptist tied the game 6-6 with a 3-run 7th inning. The Cardinals would claim the walk-off win in the 7th when Jarrett Batanian hit an RBI single to score Jake Ryan.

 

Concordia will begin WHAC conference play this Saturday with a doubleheader at Cleary starting at 1pm.
