Baseball takes one from twin bill at Miami-Hamilton

(Hamilton, OH) The Cardinal Baseball team took to Ohio Thursday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader at Miami-Hamilton. The teams split the high scoring series, with the Cards taking game one and the Harriers the second.

Game 1: Concordia 12, Miami-Hamilton 10

Logan Fleming started on the bump for Concordia, going two innings while tallying four strikeouts. Mackenzie Martin came in to relieve Fleming and went three innings, ultimately earning the win. It was Kenneth Rozmys who closed out the final two innings for his third save of the season.

At the plate, the Cardinal bats brought home a run every inning. Calvin Syrjala opened up the scoring with a two-run double in the first. Justin Kozlowski and Jarrett Batanian added RBIs in the second. Aaron Brazelton and Kozlowski walked home runs in the third inning, followed by a James (Jimmy) Wressel two-run shot in the fourth. Batanian notched another RBI in the fifth. In the sixth, Wressel knocked his second home run of the game out of the park. Jordan Sherman brought in the 12th run with a double in the final inning.

Game 2: Concordia 7, Miami-Hamilton 9

Joe Tany got the nod in game two, going two innings. He was followed by Evan Jasiak and Michial Schuster who also went two innings each.

Offensively, it was James (Jimmy) Wressel who brought in the Cardinals' first two runs of the game. Then Jarrett Batanian hit a bases clearing triple, later scoring on a Jordan Sherman single. Courtesy runner Caleb Chamberlain scored on an error in the top of the seventh, but ultimately the Cardinals came up two runs short against the Harriers.
