Abenth named WHAC Pitcher of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference released their weekly award winners for Baseball players of the week and Concordia Cardinals' Ryan Abenth won pitcher of the week for the conference.

Abenth, a senior, grabbed his first WHAC award of the season after earning his first win of the season last Friday against Grace Christian University. Abenth pitched a complete game shutout against the Tigers that saw him strike out eight batters, only allowing one hit and one walk. Additionally, Abenth was one strike away from pitching a no-hitter for the Cardinals.

Abenth joins Tyson Kleinfelter, Aaron West, and Timothy Pomaville as Cardinals to win WHAC player of the week awards this season.

The baseball team will go up against Saginaw Valley State Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup with the Cardinals with the solo game beginning at 3:05 pm. The team will also see the WHAC Tournament begin this week as the Cardinals will travel to Lima, OH on the campus of UNOH to play the first game of Pod A against Indiana Tech on Thursday, May 5, with the game beginning at 9 am.
