Four Cardinals earn WHAC Baseball Postseason Awards

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference released its yearly awards for baseball and multiple Cardinals were honored by the WHAC by being placed between the first and second teams. 

 

James (Jimmy) Wressel, a junior from Paw Paw, Michigan, earned First-Team All-Conference honors this season after leading the team in batting average and fifth in the WHAC with a .399 average, while also grabbing the most doubles in the league with 20. Wressel was tenth in home runs as well with seven. 

 

Timothy Pomaville, a junior from Warren, Michigan, was the second Cardinals to earn First-Team honors as he took a place as a relief pitcher. Pomaville led the WHAC in wins posting an 8-0 record on the year, also recording the fifth-lowest ERA in the conference as well with a 3.49 ERA. 

 

Aaron West, a freshman from Grand Ledge, Michigan, was named to the Second-Team after freshman year hitting .352 with seven home runs, which was tenth in the WHAC. His 40 RBIs were also tenth-best in the conference this season. 

 

Jarrett Batanian, a junior from Sylvania, Ohio, is the second Cardinal to be named to the Second-Team All-Conference after a season where he hit .326 while being seventh in the conference with eight home runs. He collected 45 hits on the year as well. 

 

Caleb Chamberlain was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

Also, on Wednesday WHAC All-Academic teams were named which involves being a junior in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Eight Cardinals were named to the team including Jarrett Batanian, Caleb Chamberlain, Jacob Henry, Ryan Kotecki, Michial Schuster, Jordan Sherman, Calvin Syrjala, and Curtis Townsend.
