Baseball takes two to earn series split with Lindsey Wilson

(Columbia, KY) – Concordia baseball continued their 4-game series at Lindsey Wilson with another doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The Cardinals avenged yesterday's losses with two wins to pick up the series split.

 

GAME 1 - CUAA 10, Lindsey Wilson 7

 

Drew Murphy pitched the first inning of game one. The Cardinals struck first when Tyler Wressel hit a bases-loaded 2-RBI double scoring Logan Hylek and Drew Fleming.

 

Kyle Winslow came onto pitch in the second inning, making 2 strikeouts in 3 innings. Concordia extended their lead with a 5-run second inning, starting with an RBI single by Jake Kuhlman. Drew Fleming hit an RBI triple to drive in Kuhlman and reached home on a RBI double from Logan Hylek. Hylek and Alex Czyzewski reached home on Lindsey Wilson errors to extend the lead to 7-0.

 

Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys pitched 2 innings starting in the fifth with 1 strikeout. Lindsey Wilson came back to tie the game with 7 runs in the fifth.

 

The Cardinals stormed back in the sixth when Logan Hylek hit an RBI double to drive in Jake Kuhlman and Tyler Lawson. Justin Kozlowski added an RBI single to score Hylek.

 

Blake Weaver pitched in the seventh and picked up the save securing the 10-7 win.

 

GAME 2 – CUAA 12, Lindsey Wilson 4

 

Dylan Kints started game 2 on the mound with for the Diamond Cards. Lindsey Wilson struck first, but the Cardinals countered in the second when Josh Burke hit a 2-RBI double.

 

Lindsey Wilson retook the lead with 2 runs in the third. However, the Cardinals exploded with 10 runs in the fifth to take a firm control of the game. Tyler Wressel started things off with a 2-RBI double. Justin Kozlowski added an RBI single and Alex Czyzewski drew a bases-loaded walk. Kozlowski reached home after a wild pitch went past the catcher and Josh Burke forced Harrison Ryan home with a walk. Drew Fleming had an RBI groundout and Logan Hylek cleared the bases with a 3-run homer.

 

Owen Johnson put in two innings of work followed by two innings from Evan Jasiak in which he earned the win. Ryan Kotecki recorded 4 outs before Drew Fleming made 2 strikeouts to close out the seventh and secure the 12-4 victory.

 

Concordia will travel to Saint Andrews this Friday for a doubleheader starting at 12pm.
