Baseball defeats College of the Ozarks on first day of NCCAA World Series

(Kansas City, MO) - Concordia baseball opened play at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) World Series on Saturday evening.  The Cardinals entered as the #2 seed facing the #7 seed College of the Ozarks. CUAA overcame an early 1-0 deficit to clinch a 3-1 win.

 

Bryon Mane started on the mound, going seven innings with 3 strikeouts.  College of the Ozarks struck first with a run in the first inning. 

 

In the third inning, Drew Fleming hit a 2-out double and was driven in on an RBI double from Logan Hylek to tie the game.

 

In the fifth inning, Aaron Garner reached home on a wild pitch to give the Cardinals the lead.  Tyler Wressel tacked on an RBI triple to score Justin Kozlowski

 

Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys came on to pitch the last two innings, recording the save with 4 strikeouts.  The Cardinal defense held strong to pick up the 3-1 victory.

 

 

Concordia will play Monday, May 20th, at 3:30pm against #6 seed Southwestern Christian University as the NCCAA World Series continues in Kansas City.
