(Ann Arbor, MI) - The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Midwest Region announced their Baseball honors this week and several Concordia Cardinals were named to the First Team All-Region.
The Cardinals took down Cedarville University twice this week to claim the Midwest Regional title and are looking to claim their third NCCAA World Series title next week in Kansas City.
The honors were highlighted by Drew Fleming who took home Regional Player of the Year, and Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys earned Pitcher of the Year, while Head Coach Zach Johnston earned Coach of the Year.
FIRST TEAM
DREW FLEMING | SR | DAVISON, MICHIGAN
Fleming takes home Midwest All-Region Player of the Year and is the third Cardinal to do so. Fleming led the Cardinal offense with a 0.428 batting average while hitting 29 home runs and bringing in 73 runners.
DAVE ROZMYS | JR | LIVONIA, MICHGAN
Rozmys earns the Cardinal's third NCCAA Regional Pitcher of the Year. Rozmys led the region in wins with six while also recording a 1.41 ERA over 44.2 innings. He would also go on to lead the team in strikeouts with 53.
JOSH BURKE | JR | MACOMB, MICHIGAN
Josh Burke earns All-Region honors in his first season in a Cardinal uniform. Burke has collected 61 hits this season while hitting for an average of 0.326. In addition, Burke has eight home runs and 39 RBIs.
LOGAN HYLEK | JR | GRAND LEDGE, MICHGAN
The final Cardinal to be named to the first team is Logan Hylek, who is also in his first season as a Cardinal. Hylek has a 0.381 average this season as he collected 74 hits, which is second-most in the region. He also recorded 43 RBIs this season.
SECOND TEAM
TYLER WRESSEL | JR | PAW PAW, MICHIGAN
Tyler Wressel earns Second Team All-Region honors for the first time in his Cardinal career. Wressel has 36 RBIs on the season with 22 extra-base hits, including four home runs. He added 10 stolen bases and scored 40 runs.
COACH OF THE YEAR
ZACH JOHNSTON | 10TH SEASON
This is the sixth time that Head Coach Zach Johnston has earned the Regional Coach of the Year honor, having won the honor in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 previously. Johnston has an overall record of 350-184 in his 10 years.
