Baseball tops Siena Heights 5-2 on day one of WHAC Tournament

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia baseball hosted Siena Heights for the first day of pod play in the WHAC tournament. The Cardinals came away victorious with a 5-2 win over their rival Saints.

 

Owen Johnson was the starting pitcher, making 4 strikeouts in five innings. The Cardinals scored all 5 of their runs in the third inning, starting with a 2-RBI double from Josh Burke. Logan Hylek added an RBI single to score Burke and Tyler Wressel crushed a 2-run homer.

Siena Heights broke the shutout with 2 runs in the fifth inning. Trey Acker came on to pitch in the sixth inning, making 1 strikeout in three innings of work.

In the ninth inning Siena Heights loaded the bases with no outs. Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys came in to pitch, allowing no runs while striking out the last two batters to clinch the victory.

 

Concordia will face Indiana Tech tomorrow, May 2nd, at 1pm as they continue tournament play.
