Baseball tops NCAA DII Tusculum 13-5 in 9-inning contest

(Greeneville, TN) - Concordia baseball played a single 9 inning game at Tusculum on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinals stormed back from an early deficit to be victorious and claim a 13-5 win.

 

Bryon Mane and Trey Acker combined to pitch the first inning with Acker going 3.2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Tusculum took a 3-0 lead after the first inning.

In the second inning, Andre Hutchins got the Cardinals on the board with an RBI single scoring Logan Hylek. Justin Kozlowski added a sacrifice bunt to drive in Tyler Wressel.

Kyle Hebner hit a 2-RBI single in the 4th inning to put CUAA ahead 4-3. Josh Burke tacked on a 2-RBI double to extend the lead. Andre Hutchins hit an RBI single in the 5th inning to drive in Logan Hylek.

Drew Fleming and Tyler Wressel had RBI singles in the 6th inning. In the 7th, Gus Simon made it home after a wild pitch got past the catcher's glove. Drew Fleming then crushed a deep 3-run homer to extend the lead to double digits.

Evan Jasiak pitched the last 2 outs in the 9th inning with 1 strikeout to secure the 13-5 victory.

 

Concordia will hold their home opener against Goshen on March 12th at 2pm.
