WHAC ALL-CONFERNCE AWARDS: Four Cardinal's earn WHAC Honors; Headlined by Back-to-Back Player of the Year Drew Fleming

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its yearly awards on Tuesday afternoon and several Concordia Cardinals baseball players earned postseason honors. 

 

Concordia senior Drew Fleming earned his second consecutive WHAC Player of the Year to highlight the All-Conference honors with a total of four Cardinals being honored. 

 


CONFERENCE AWARDS

Drew Fleming earns WHAC Player of the Year for the second straight year. Fleming is the first Cardinal in program history to earn the award in back-to-back years. Alex Hoover is the only other Cardinal to win the award doing so in 2008.




FIRST TEAM

DREW FLEMING | SR | DAVISON, MICHIGAN

Drew Fleming takes home another WHAC First Team All-Conference after leading the Cardinals and the WHAC in several hitting categories. Fleming is first in the WHAC in home runs (27), RBIs (68), and walks (37). He is second in the conference in batting average (.444) and on-base percentage (.556). 


LOGAN HYLEK | JR | GRAND LEDGE, MICHIGAN

The Cardinal catcher earns his first WHAC postseason honor after transferring to CUAA. Hylek hit for a batting average of .393 on the season as he brought in 41 runners. He was third in the WHAC in doubles on the season with 17, while also hitting three home runs. 


KENNETH (DAVE) ROZMYS | JR | LIVONIA, MICHIGAN

One of the Cardinals top relief pitchers, Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys, pitched 41.2 innings this season as he recorded three saves on the year and led the team in strikeouts with 49, which was tied for 12th-best in the WHAC, and ERA at 1.08. 



SECOND TEAM

JOSH BURKE | JR | MACOMB, MICHIGAN

Josh Burke appears on the All-Conference Second Team in his first season as a Cardinal after totaling 57 hits on the year which was the 14th most in the WHAC this season. Burke also recorded eight home runs, which was second-best on the team and 10th-best in the WHAC. 



GOLD GLOVE AWARDS

DREW FLEMING | SR | DAVISON, MICHIGAN

The Cardinal first baseman was top-20 in the WHAC this season in fielding percentage with a percentage of .994. He led the WHACin putouts with 315, and in 334 fielding chances he only had two errors. 


 


CHAMPION OF CHARACTER

Curtis Townsend was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for his commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.



ALL-ACADEMIC

The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a sophomore in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The 18 Cardinals honored were Trey Acker, Marcus Bugeja, Drew Fleming, Derek Hebner, Evan Jasiak, Justin Kozlowski, Bryon Mane, Mackenzie Martin, Drew Murphy, Brad Oltersdorf, Ethan Orlowski, Ryan Patterson, Harrison Ryan, Curtis Townsend, Jack Vrba, Blake Weaver, Aaron West, and Kyle Winslow
