Baseball overpowers Wilberforce for two more wins
(Xenia, OH) - Concordia baseball traveled to Wilberforce on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader.  The Cardinals continued their strong play with 9-0 and 13-1 wins.   
 
GAME 1 – CUAA 9, WU 0 (seven innings) 
Mackenzie Martin pitched a complete game in the first contest with 7 strikeouts.  The Cardinals opened scoring when Josh Burke reached home on an error in the first inning.   

In the second inning, Justin Kozlowski made it home with Jake Kuhlman caught in a rundown.  In the third inning, Tyler Wressel hit an RBI double scoring Drew Fleming and was driven in on an RBI single by Jake Kuhlman.   

In the fifth inning, Tyler Wressel hit an RBI triple to drive in Drew Fleming.  Curtis Townsend scored Wressel with an RBI single and Harrison Ryan added a 2-RBI double.  

Taisei Yamada added an RBI single in the sixth inning to score Logan Hylek.  The Cardinal defense turned the shutout for a 9-0 win. 
 
GAME 2 – CUAA 13, WU 1 (six innings) 
Logan Fleming started game two on the mound, pitching four innings with 1 strikeout.  Josh Burke opened scoring in the first inning with an RBI double that drove in Aaron West.  Drew Fleming then crushed a 2-run homer.   

In the second inning, Josh Burke started the scoring again with an RBI single to drive in Tyler Lawson.  Tyler Wressel added an RBI single to score Drew Fleming and Justin Kozlowski singled to send Logan Hylek home. Aaron Garner reached home while Justin Kozlowski was stealing second base and Jake Kuhlman singled to score Kozlowski.   

Jake Kuhlman reached home on an error in the fourth inning.  Trey Acker came in to pitch starting in the fifth inning going 1.2 innings with 1 strikeout.  In the bottom of the fifth inning, Drew Fleming hit a 2-run homer.  Aaron Garner used an RBI groundout to score Logan Hylek and Taisei Yamada made in home on a passed ball.   

Evan Jasiak secured the final out in the sixth inning. The game was called early due to weather and the Cardinals closed out the sweep with a 13-1 victory. 


Concordia will travel to rival Madonna this Saturday, April 27th for a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
