(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia women's basketball returned home to host Defiance College on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinal offense was firing on all cylinders and cruised to an 80-35 victory.
Lauren Borsenik had a double-double to lead the team with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Cardinals were also in double figures in points: Avery Collins (12), Abby Long (11), Brooke Brauher (10), and Ryan Moorer (10).
Abby Long made a 3-pointer to open scoring. Ryan Moorer and Lauren Borsenik added layups to open the game on a 9-0 run. Avery Collins knocked down a triple and Emily McCalla got on the scoresheet with a basket. Brooke Brauher converted two baskets and Avery Collins drove for two layups giving CUAA a 27-6 lead after the first quarter.
Hannah Vallier scored three layups early in the second quarter. Avery Collins converted a basket and Abby Long made a triple. Brooke Brauher scored inside and a Julia Hirt 3-pointer gave CUAA a commanding 44-16 lead at halftime.
Lauren Borsenik made two baskets to start the third quarter. Abby Long drove for a layup and hit a triple to extend the team's lead. Emily McCalla and Ryan Moorer added baskets as the Cardinals continued to see balanced scoring. CUAA led 67-22 after the third quarter.
Julia Viau drained two free throws to open the fourth quarter. Brooke Brauher hit a running jumpshot and Lauren Borsenik nailed a triple. Ryan Moorer hit a short jumper and Emily McCalla scored inside. A layup from Brooke Brauher capped scoring in the 80-35 win.
Concordia will remain home this Wednesday, January 8th, when they host rival Siena Heights at 5:30pm.
