(Fort Wayne, IN) - Concordia women's basketball went on the road to face Indiana Tech Wednesday evening. The Cardinals fought hard throughout the game, but the Warriors maintained an early lead for a 61-49 win.
Ryan Moorer led the team with 13 points. Julia Hirt and Lauren Borsenik tied for second with 10 points apiece.
Indiana Tech opened the game on a 12-0 run over the first five minutes. Julia Hirt got the Cardinals on the board with a hook shot and Jess Andrew added free throws. CUAA trailed 18-4 after the first quarter.
Lauren Borsenik scored to open the second quarter. Julia Hirt drove for a layup and Lauren Borsenik added a short jumper. Ryan Moorer had the last three points of the half and CUAA faced a 27-13 deficit at halftime.
Lauren Borsenik opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer. Ryan Moorer knocked down a jumper and Hannah Vallier hit a triple. Brooke Brauher scored inside and Ryan Moorer stayed hot with two more baskets. Emily McCalla added a late layup and CUAA trailed 47-29 after three quarters.
Ryan Moorer and Julia Hirt both converted an "and-1" to start the fourth quarter. Julia Hirt scored again and Brooke Brauher made free throws as the Cardinals looked for a comeback. Brooke Brauher scored the last five points but CUAA fell 61-49 as time expired.
CUAA will return home to host the Concordia Invitational Tournament this Friday and Saturday, January 24 and 25th. The Cardinals will face Concordia Wisconsin this Friday at 6pm.
