Women's Basketball tops Lourdes 65-56 on Senior Day

(Ann Arbor, MI) - CUAA women's basketball hosted Lourdes on Saturday afternoon to wrap up WHAC regular season play.  Prior to the game, the team honored their seven Senior members: Abby Long, Brooke Brauher, Ellie Kallner, Emily McCalla, Grace Sandlin, Hannah Vallier and Julia Hirt. The Cardinals sent their Seniors out victorious with a 65-56 win. 

 

Ryan Moorer led the team with 20 points and seven rebounds.  Brooke Brauher and Lauren Borsenik tied for second with 11 points apiece.   

 

Abby Long opened scoring with a jumper.  Brooke Brauher made an early jumper and both Hannah Vallier and Ryan Moorer drove for layups.  The lead continued to shift with Ryan Moorer draining free throws and Brooke Brauher scoring inside.  The game was tied 13-13 after the first quarter. 

 

Ellie Kallner scored to open the second quarter.  Ryan Moorer and Jess Andrew converted layups and Abby Long drained free throws.  Ellie Kallner hit a triple and Hannah Vallier scored two layups as the game remained close.  Lauren Borsenik and Ryan Moorer added baskets to put CUAA up 33-29 at halftime. 

 

Ryan Moorer knocked down a jumper to start the third quarter.  Brooke Brauher and Ryan Moorer made layups and Lauren Borsenik finished an "and-1".  Jess Andrew drove for a layup and Ryan Moorer had two more baskets to give CUAA a 48-42 lead after the third quarter.   

 

Lauren Borsenik made a jumper to start the fourth quarter.  Borsenik added free throws and both Brooke Brauher and Ryan Moorer scored to keep the team in front.  Moorer and Abby Long added baskets with Lauren Borsenik draining free throws.  A layup from Hannah Vallier capped off the 65-56 victory.   

 

CUAA will be the #5 seed in the WHAC tournament and travel to Cornerstone University this Wednesday, February 26th
