Long and Borsenik named to WHAC First Team All-Conference, Moorer Second Team

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their yearly postseason awards for Women's Basketball on Thursday afternoon and several Concordia Cardinal's earned honors for their performance this season. 

 

FIRST TEAM

Abby Long | Senior | Portage, Michigan

The senior makes her second straight appearance on the WHAC First Team, led the team in scoring as she averaged 14.8 points a game from the field which was seventh best in the WHAC. Long recorded a 85.9% free throw percentage this season which was the fourth highest among qualified shooters and is a new Concordia program record as well. Her 4.1 assists per game were fifth in the WHAC. 

 

FIRST TEAM | ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM

Lauren Borsenik | Freshman | Hemlock, Michigan

Borsenik earned appearances on two separate teams in her first year with mentions on both the First Team All-Conference and the All-Freshman team. Borsenik was the Cardinal's second-leading scorer as she averaged 13.5 points per game, 11th best in the WHAC. Borsenik was also CUAA's second-leading rebounder with 6.1 rebounds a game which was best for 16th in the WHAC.

 

SECOND TEAM | ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM

Ryan Moorer | Freshman | Warren, Michigan

Moorer, another CUAA freshman earned a pair of honors as she was named to the WHAC Second Team All-Conference. The guard was able to pull down 6.4 rebounds a game which was 13th best in the WHAC. Moorer also averaged 9.4 points and 1.3 steals per game.

 

CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER

Grace Sandlin was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

ALL-ACADEMIC

The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a sophomore in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The eight Cardinals honored were Jessica Andrew, Chloe Bisballe, Kendall Harmon, Julia Hirt, Ellie Kallner, Abigail Long, Grace Sandlin, and Julia Viau
