Women's Basketball drops contest at Siena Heights

(Adrian, MI) - CUAA women's basketball traveled to rival Siena Heights on Wednesday night in WHAC play.  The Cardinals fought hard against their rival but the team eventually fell 56-39. 

 

Ryan Moorer led the team with eight rebounds while tying Lauren Borsenik for a team-best ten points.  Jess Andrew finished third with seven points. 

 

Ryan Moorer ended the 9-0 Siena Heights run with a layup.  Lauren Borsenik scored inside and Avery Collins drove for a basket.  Ryan Moorer added another layup and Jess Andrew hit a late jumper.  CUAA trailed 16-11 after the first quarter. 

 

Lauren Borsenik scored the first four Cardinal points in the second quarter.  Jess Andrew knocked down a 3-pointer and a jumper as the team looked to keep pace.  CUAA faced a 28-21 at halftime. 

 

Ryan Moorer opened the third quarter with a layup.  Lauren Borsenik and Moorer each scored baskets and Brooke Brauher drained a pair of free throws.  Abby Long got on the board with a layup, but the Saints began to pull away and led 45-31 after the third quarter.  

 

Abby Long opened the fourth quarter with a jumper.  Lauren Borsenik and Ryan Moorer continued to lead the offense with a basket each.  Abby Long knocked down a jumper but CUAA would fall by a final score of 56-39. 

 

CUAA will travel to University of Northwestern Ohio this Friday, February 14th, for a 5:30pm game.
