(Toledo, OH) Concordia Men's Hockey headed south of the border for a match against the Toledo Rockets to conclude their two-game series. The Cardinals were up a goal after the first period, but the Rockets stormed back to win 4-1 in the end.
Derek Hebner drew first blood for the Cardinals with an unassisted power play goal in the first period. The Cardinals kept the Rockets at bay in their only power play chance in the period to make it 1-0 in favor of Concordia heading into the first intermission.
Toledo bounced back in the second period with a power play goal to equalize the game early on. The rest of the second period saw multiple penalties, with several being coincidental. The Rockets scored another two goals in the period, with one on the power play to take a two-goal advantage into the final period of play. Toledo's goaltender was disqualified from the game late in the period, forcing Friday's starter to come in and close out the game.
The Cards killed a power play in the third period, but Toledo was able to tack on one final insurance goal to secure their 4-1 victory. Anthony Seykora finished the night with 24 saves in between the pipes for Concordia.
Concordia will be back on the ice for their WHAC opener at home against Lawrence Tech on Friday, October 11th. Puck drop is set for 8:00 PM in the Arctic Edge in Canton.
