Men's Hockey takes down Rochester Christian

(Fraser, MI) - The Concordia University Ann Arbor Men's Hockey Team went on the road to play the Rochester Christian Warriors in the first of two games against the Warriors. This was their third out of four matches against RCU this season. The Cardinals defeated the Warriors in a close match 3-2.

 

Goaltender Nolan Foster had 22 saves out of 24 attempts.

 

The first period started off hot for both teams, as the Cardinals got on the board first with a goal from Kolton Horn helped by Nicholas Twombley after 13 minutes went by in the first period. With under a minute left in the period, the Warriors answered back with a goal from Cole Zalewski assisted by Kyle Banks and Jake Mullins to even up the match 1-1 heading into the second period.

 

The Cardinals opened up the second period with a goal from Gavin Scally helped by Joseph Lajcaj and Garrett Beniot to take the early lead in the second. The match would be 2-1 heading into the third period.

 

The Warriors tied the match early in the third period with a goal by Shaun Zatelli assisted by Mullins. Jack Kallsen would score the game-winning goal for the Cardinals helped by Brayden Tayles to give the Cardinals a 3-2 victory over the Warriors.

 

The Cardinals will host Rochester Christian University tomorrow night at 5:30 PM at Arctic Edge in Canton, MI.
