(Canton, MI) - Concordia Men's Hockey hosted Lawrence Tech for a WHAC hockey matchup on Friday night. The Cardinals erased a 2-0 deficit to tie the game 2-2, but the Blue Devils came away with a tightly contested 3-2 win.
Nolan Foster played a complete game in net making 38 saves. Lawrence Tech netted two goals in the first period to build an early lead. The Cardinals cut into the deficit late in the period when Ethan Lindle slipped a pass from behind the net to Bryce Iott for a one-timer goal. CUAA trailed 2-1 after the first period.
The Cardinals evened the game just 1:28 into the second period. Kyle Hebner took a shot from the side of the goal that deflected off the Lawrence Tech goalie's leg and into the net. Nicholas Twombley and Mason Blow drew assists on the goal. Defense dominated the rest of the period, and the teams were tied 2-2 heading to the second intermission.
Lawrence Tech retook the lead early in the third period. The Cardinals pulled their goalie in the final minutes for an extra attacker as they looked to tie the game. Nicholas Twombley made a key defensive save with an empty net and Carson Ediger had a great scoring chance in front of the LTU goal. However, Lawrence Tech held on for the 3-2 win.
Concordia will travel to Lawrence Tech tomorrow, October 12th, at 8pm to wrap up the series.
