(Saginaw, MI) Concordia Men's Hockey returned to the ice for their last non-conference matchup of the season. They travelled north to Saginaw Valley State, where they would complete the weekend sweep, winning 5-4 on the road. Concordia jumped out to an early lead, and weathered four powerplay goals from SVSU in the final 25 minutes of the game to hold on to the one goal win. Kyle Hebner led the Cardinals with 2 goals and an assist, while also scoring what would be the game-winning goal in the third period.
Concordia had three goaltenders play a period each in the game, starting with Connor Carroll in the first, followed by Ryan Nickerson, and then Nolan Foster in the third.
The first period was on the quieter side with no goals and just one penalty on Concordia, who was able to successfully kill it.
Concordia drew first blood just over two minutes into the second period when Derek Hebner found the back of the net. Ethan Lindle doubled their lead halfway into the period with a power play goal, followed by Bryce Iott making it 3-0. SVSU scored their first goal on a power play not long after, but Kyle Hebner scored his first of the night to keep the advantage at 3 goals heading into the second intermission.
Concordia had 6 penalties in the final period which allowed SVSU to creep their way back into the game. Lucas Millmine scored two power play goals in quick succession for SVSU to make it a one goal game early in the period. Kyle Hebner gave the Cardinals an insurance goal with a minute and a half remaining, which would in effect be the game winning goal as SVSU scored one final power play goal with 16 seconds remaining to make it 5-4 in the end.
