(Canton, MI) - Concordia men's hockey began a weekend series against Cleary on Friday night with a home contest. Both teams traded goals midway through the game, but the Cougars pulled away for a 4-2 win.
Nolan Foster recorded 38 saves in net for the Cardinals. Both teams traded offensive chances throughout the period with both goalies holding strong. However, Cleary tallied with 11 seconds to play to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Cardinals tied the game early in the second period when Kolton Horn chipped in a rebound off a Derek Hebner shot. CUAA killed off multiple penalties during the second period to keep the game tied 1-1 heading to the second intermission.
The Cardinals took the lead early in the third period when Ethan Lindle scored a one-timer off a Carson Ediger shot. However, Cleary tied the game just over a minute later and eventually took a 3-2 lead. CUAA pulled their goalie for an extra attacker in the final minutes, but Cleary held on for a 4-2 win.
Concordia will travel to Cleary tomorrow, January 18th, for a 5pm game.
