Men's Hockey makes comeback effort but falls 7-4 at UM-Dearborn

(Dearborn, MI) - Concordia men's hockey went on the road on Friday night to face UM-Dearborn in the first game of a weekend series. After falling behind 6-0, the Cardinals scored four unanswered goals as they looked to rally.  However, the Wolverines held on for a 7-4 win. 

 

Anthony Seykora recorded 42 saves in net for the Cardinals.  UM-Dearborn scored two goals in the first period to take an early lead.  The Cardinals ended the period with a 5-on-3 power play but trailed 2-0 heading into intermission. 

 

Both teams traded power play chances as the contest continued to be chippy.  The Wolverines added four more goals, but the Cardinals got on the board when Brayden Tayles jammed in a power play goal with assists by Kyle Hebner and Joseph Lajcaj Less than a minute later, Kyle Hebner scored on a one-timer with helpers by Ethan Lindle and Derek Hebner.  CUAA trailed 6-2 after the second period. 

 

Carson Ediger scored in the first minute of the third period with assists from Ethan Lindle and Nicholas Twombley.  Anthony Seykora made a sensational save on his back to keep the Cardinals in the game.  CUAA continued their momentum with a short-handed marker by Ethan Lindle assisted by Kyle Hebner and Derek Hebner.  The Cardinals pulled their goalie in the final minutes for an extra attacker.  However, UM-Dearborn was able to hold on for a 7-4 win. 

 

Concordia will host UM-Dearborn tomorrow, January 11, at 8pm in the Arctic Edge in Canton, Michigan.
