Men's Hockey takes down Rochester Christian at home

(Canton, MI) The Concordia Men's Hockey team continued their conference play against Rochester Christian University. The Cardinals fought off the Warriors for a 6-4 victory to improve to 4-9-1 on the season. 

 

Joseph Lajcaj led the Cardinals with 2 goals, while Bryce Iott scored 2 goals himself. Carson Ediger had 1 goal and 1 assist as well. Both had 1 goal and 1 assist as well. Anthony Seykora earned the win in between the pipes with a total of 19 saves on the night.

 

The Cardinals offense erupted in the first period when Joseph Lajcaj found the back of the net 10 minutes into the game. Kyle Hebner scored just 3 minutes after to move the score to 2-0. With just under two minutes left in the period, Joseph Lajcaj tallied his second goal of the night to make it 3-0 Cardinals after the first period. 

 

Rochester Christian opened up the second period with a pair of goals to try and claw back into the game. With five minutes left in the second period, Bryce Iott scored his first goal of the game to make it 4-2 after the second period. 

 

Carson Ediger started the scoring early in the third period with a goal just under two minutes into the period to make it 5-2 Concordia. Rochester Christian scored a goal midway through the period on the power-play to make it 5-3, but Bryce Iott scored a power-play goal of his own to extend the lead to 6-3. In the final minute of the game, the Warriors scored to make it 6-4, but it wasn't enough. The Cardinals were able to bring home the Friday night victory.

 

Concordia will hit the road tomorrow and play the second half of the home and home series against Rochester Christian at 2:30pm at Fraser Hockeyland in Fraser, MI.
