Baseball falls to Marian in series finale

(Indianapolis, IN) – Concordia baseball concluded their series against Marian with a 9-inning game on Sunday. The Cardinals nearly rallied from an early deficit, but the Knights held on to take game 3 of the series.

 

 

Marian jumped out to an early lead with a 4-run 1st. Timothy Pomaville came on to pitch in the 2nd, going 6 innings with 5 strikeouts.

 

Concordia got a run in the 4th when Drew Fleming scored off an error. Marian answered with a run in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th.

 

The Cardinals rallied with 5 runs in the 7th. Aaron (AJ) Brazelton drew a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and then Harrison Ryan walked. John Markiewicz used a sacrifice fly to score Jarrett Batanian and Jake Ryan used an RBI groundout to drive in Aaron (AJ) Brazelton. Curtis Townsend capped the inning with an RBI single to send Ryan home.

 

Marian responded with a 5-run 8th to reclaim their lead. The Cardinals got 2 baserunners in the 9th but were not able to score.

 

 

Concordia will play a 3-game series against Asbury on March 3-4.
