Baseball sweeps Grace Christian on Senior Day
 
 

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia baseball celebrated Senior Day on Tuesday afternoon with a non-conference doubleheader with Grace Christian.  The Cardinals sent their seniors out victorious with 2 more wins on the day.  Following the game, the team celebrated their 12 seniors: Aaron (AJ) Brazelton, Billy Blair, Caleb Harmond, Jack Vrba, Jake Moyer, Jarrett Batanian, James (Jimmy) Wressel, Johnny Shields, Jordan Sherman, Logan Fleming, Timothy Pomaville, and Tyson Kleinfelter. 

 

Game 1 – CUAA 9, GC 2 (7 innings) 

Jack Vrba started on the mound, making 2 strikeouts in 4 innings.  Concordia had a 4-run 1st inning, starting with Jordan Sherman drawing a bases-loaded walk.  Caleb Harmond reached on catcher's interference scoring Drew Fleming.  Aaron Brazelton then drew a walk and Jordan Sherman scored on a wild pitch to cap the inning. 

In the 2nd, Jimmy Wressel hit an RBI double to drive in Aaron WestJordan Sherman used an RBI single to score Wressel for a 6-0 lead. 

In the 4th, Jarrett Batanian hit a 2-RBI triple to score Caleb Harmond and Jordan Sherman.  An RBI single from Aaron Brazelton brought home Batanian. 

Logan Fleming pitched the final 3 innings, making 3 strikeouts.  Grace Christian plated 2 runs in the 7th, but a double play by the Cardinal defense closed out the game. 

 

Game 2 – CUAA 14, GC 1 (7 innings) 

Billy Blair started game 2, making 13 strikeouts in 6.1 innings.  Concordia plated 11 runs in the 1st, starting when Aaron West scored on a balk.  Caleb Harmond hit a 2-RBI single followed by a grand slam from John MarkiewiczDrew Fleming crushed a 3-run homer and Jimmy Wressel closed the inning with a solo shot. 

In the 2nd, Kyle Hebner hit a 2-RBI single scoring Jordan Markiewicz and Aaron Brazelton.  In the 3rd, Jimmy Wressel hit his second solo home run of the game. 

Grace Christian broke the shutout in the 4th with a run, but the Cardinal defense held the rest of the game.  Kenneth Rozmys secured the last 2 outs in the 7th to clinch the sweep. 

 

Concordia will remain at home this Thursday to host Indiana Tech for a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
