Baseball sweeps series over Asbury with two shutouts
 
 

(Wilmore, KY) – Concordia baseball wrapped up their series against Asbury with a doubleheader on Tuesday.  The Cardinals pitched a shutout on the day with a pair of victories to sweep the series. 

 

Game 1 – CUAA 5, AU 0 (7 innings) 

Bryon Mane pitched a complete game, making 7 strikeouts and allowing only 2 hits.  The game remained scoreless until the 5th when Drew Fleming hit a 2-run homer. 

Aaron (AJ) Brazelton hit an RBI double in the 6th to score Caleb Harmond.  In the 7th, Jordan Sherman used an RBI single to drive in Jarrett BatanianJordan Sherman reached home on a Justin Kozlowski single to cap off the scoring. 

Bryon Mane dispatched all three batters in the 7th to close out the game. 

 

Game 2 – CUAA 8, AU 0 

Drew Murphy started on the mound, making a strikeout and scattering a hit in 3 innings.  Jordan Sherman drew a bases-loaded walk in the 1st to open scoring. 

The Cardinals turned a double play in the 1st and 2nd.  In the 3rd, Jordan Sherman hit an RBI single to score Drew FlemingJustin Kozlowski added a sacrifice bunt to drive in James (Jimmy) Wressel. 

Timothy Pomaville pitched starting in the 4th, notching 3 strikeouts.  In the 7th, Jarrett Batanian hit an RBI double to score James (Jimmy) WresselJordan Sherman then crushed a 2-run homer. 

Caleb Harmond added a 2-RBI double in the 9th to send Jordan Sherman and James (Jimmy) Wressel home.  Timothy Pomaville dealt with all 3 batters in the 9th to clinch the shutout. 

 

Concordia will play a 4-game series at IUPUC on March 10-11.
