Baseball clinches WHAC Regular Season title with wins over Lawrence Tech
 
(Southfield, MI) – Concordia baseball traveled to Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC doubleheader.  The Cardinals picked up two wins to secure the WHAC regular season title for the first time in school history. As a result, the Cardinals earned an automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round for the first time in program history.  

 

 

Game 1 – CUAA 5, LTU 3 

Bryon Mane started game 1, making 6 strikeouts in 5 innings.  In the 1st, Jordan Sherman hit an RBI single to score Drew Fleming.   

In the 3rd, Jimmy Wressel used an RBI single to drive in Kyle Hebner.  In the 5th, Drew Fleming crushed a solo shot. 

LTU broke the shutout with a run in the 5th and tied the game with 2 runs in the 6th.  In the 7th, Drew Fleming hit a 2-run homer to put the Cardinals back on top.  Fleming then closed out the bottom half on the mound to finish game 1. 

 

Game 2 – CUAA 5, LTU 3 

Drew Murphy started game 2, notching 3 strikeouts in 5 innings.  LTU took a 1-0 lead after the 2nd. 

In the 4th. Jordan Sherman hit a 2-RBI double to put the Cardinals in the lead.  Jarrett Batanian then hit into a fielder's choice to score Sherman. 

Trey Acker came in to pitch in the 6th, going 3 innings with 1 strikeout.  In the 8th, Jordan Sherman used a sacrifice fly to score Aaron WestJustin Kozlowski then drew a bases-loaded walk forcing Drew Fleming home. 

Drew Fleming pitched in the 9th, making 2 strikeouts and securing the key victory. 

 

Concordia will remain at Lawrence Tech for a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 1pm.
