Baseball completes the sweep of Johnson on Saturday

(Knoxville, TN) – Concordia baseball completed their series against Johnson with a 9-inning game on Saturday.  The Cardinals continued to generate solid offense with a 12-5 win.

 

Drew Murphy started on the mound, pitching 6 innings with 5 strikeouts.  Concordia scored in the 1st when James (Jimmy) Wressel hit an RBI double scoring Aaron West.

Johnson tied the game in the 1st, but the Cardinals regained the lead with a 3-run 2ndCurtis Townsend hit an RBI single scoring Kyle Hebner and Aaron (AJ) Brazelton made it home on an error.  Townsend reached home while Jordan Sherman stole second to complete the inning.

In the 4th, Jarrett Batanian hit a double scoring Kyle Hebner and Curtis Townsend sent Batanian home with a sacrifice fly.  Johnson countered with 2 runs in the bottom.

Aaron (AJ) Brazelton drew a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the 5th to force Caleb Harmond home.  In the 6th, Drew Fleming hit an RBI single driving in Aaron West and Caleb Harmond scored on an error.

Bryon Mane pitched in the 7th, making 2 strikeouts.  Logan Fleming finished the game on the mound starting in the 8th, notching 3 strikeouts.

While Johnson scored 2 runs in the 8th, the Cardinals finished scoring with 3 runs in the 9thAndre Hutchins started with an RBI single to score Curtis TownsendJohn Markiewicz and Harrison Ryan then drew walks with the bases loaded, securing the final 12-5 score.

 

Concordia will travel to Shawnee State for a 4-game series on February 18-19.
